Rivers & Christian provided planning design and construction administration to modify and rehabilitate a portion of the former 1956 Continental Hangar complex and Chelsea Airline Kitchen. Providing American Airlines and American Eagle replacement facilities located in the American Airlines Low Bay Hangar.
The hangar was scheduled to be demolished by Los Angeles World Airports to allow for the construction of Taxiway T. The older former Continental facility had been empty for several years and required both hazardous material abatement and structural repairs. American Eagle Aircraft maintenance relocated to the hangar area with new and renovated support facilities. American Airlines Shipping and Receiving, Cabin Services, Aircraft Fueling, Building Maintenance Shops and administration, General Storage, Employee locker rooms, restrooms and break-rooms were located in the re-purposed three-story airline kitchen structure.
