Rivers & Christian designed the Virgin America facilities in Terminal 3 when they expanded their facilities and relocated from Terminal 6. Rivers & Christian created a new look for the least remodeled and original terminal at LAX. The project updated the Western Airlines ticket lobby by remodeling the airline ticket offices and counters, increasing the queuing depth of the lobby and then designing a space to reflect the Virgin America Corporate “image”. The counters, more like desks, provide friendly queuing and the latest in self check-in technology. The counters are arranged in the Virgin configuration providing more user friendly queuing. In the Terminal 3 Satellite, the east rotunda hall was remodeled to develop a large holdroom with a central check-in area instead of scattered check-in areas. The project upgraded the aesthetics of the existing facility to reflect the Virgin Corporate image in both project areas, including signage, power and communications.
